No, i don't care if my head is crushed in a rollover, why do you ask?

That's what that does.

People drive convertibles.

That have specifically strengthened A- Pillars and in many cases pop up rollover hoops....

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem driving something cool but unsafe, I just see those thin pillars and cringe a little at the illusion of safety.

Those C pillars look substantial.

I don't so much want that as I do a production version of this.

Modern engineering could make it safe I'm sure.

That's only because those don't have C pillars. There is no absolute need for B pillars. It's just cheaper.

yup, you can do pillarless just fine with engineering and yes yes yes to making this thing real.

These came that way from way from the factory 66 chevelle SS 396. My dad had one from new for about 20 years

So much cheaper and lighter to just add a "hidden" (!) B-pillar, as Chevy did when they took the Camaro to production, and as Chrysler did when they took the Challenger to production, and as Cadillac did when they took the CTS Coupe to production, and as Cadillac did when they took the ELR Coupe to production...

I doubt we'll ever see another domestic four-seater coupe without a B-pillar, unless they just eliminate the rear passenger windows completely.

Hidden B pillar is a bullshit liar. Be honest, if you're going to sacrifice styling for cheapness just admit it.

BMW 4-series has a "hidden" B-pillar. So does the 6-series.

Audi A5/S5/RS5 has a "hidden" B-pillar.

MB C-Classs Coupe has a "hidden" B-pillar.

Are they all being cheap? Or is it maybe really really hard/heavy/expensive to build a modern safe solid pillarless coupe?

It can be done and you can make it safe, so yes, they are being cheap. Don't bother pretending to be a hardtop coupe if you're not going to go all the way.

Fast, cheap, good — choose any two. Otherwise you are being unrealistic. Enjoy your pricey E-Class princessmobile.

I never said I expect hardtops to be cheap. I also don't hate cars with B pillars, I just hate liars that pretend not to have them. When the windows go down we all know the truth. With all the hardtop convertibles running around you can't tell me hardtop coupes are completely unfeasible.

I never said completely unfeasible. But I honestly do not believe that Cadillac in particular has the stones to build a pillarless coupe.

They made a V8 luxury wagon. They're making a good 3 series competitor. I think they could totally do this.
